Experience in this New Learning Set Up
by Jerry Lim (Grade 11)
Introduction
For some, the Covid virus was like a thief in the night that stole their plans and dreams away. For others, it is a nightmare that just won’t go away, with scenes coming from futuristic sci-fi movies, complete with face masks and face shields. They hope it was just all but a dream but they’d wake up only to find it’s all real. Then, anxiety sets in.
These poems are written as expressions of the distress brought by the reality that gone are the days of meeting in classrooms and hallways and the norm of frequent hand washing and the wearing of protective gear. These are also the expressions of the deepest hopes of students that someday soon, we can go back to the way life used to be.
