Inspiring Global Change: United Nations Day at Hope Christian High School
Every year on October 24, Hope Christian High School joins the world in commemorating United Nations Day, a celebration that perfectly aligns with our dedication to inspire students to understand their role in a global society. This day reinforces the values of unity, peace, and international collaboration, reflecting the school’s goal of nurturing a learning community that acknowledges both God’ s love and the richness of global diversity.
This year’s United Nations Day celebration, organized by the IB-MYP Individuals and Societies teachers and our beloved Principal Dr. Angeline Tan-Tiller, showcased our commitment to provide a relevant and dynamic education. Students embodied our values of holistic growth and development by representing different UN member countries. They proudly displayed national costumes, cultural traditions, and famous landmarks, deepening their appreciation for other nations. Additionally, Year 5 students shared the 17 United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, including how the Philippines is actively contributing to the global 2030 agenda, fostering a sense of responsibility and awareness among the younger students.
Despite the challenges of class suspensions that left little time for preparation, the dedication of both students and teachers brought each classroom to life, transforming them into immersive representations of the selected countries. Dioramas and displays showcased elements like the Nile River and Egyptian mummies or the ancient architecture of Greece, highlighting our school’s commitment to excellence and authentic learning experiences.
The event was an overwhelming success. The joy and enthusiasm of the students showed that the experience was both memorable and meaningful, encouraging them to look beyond themselves and recognize the power of global unity and cooperation. This celebration of the United Nations’ ideals seamlessly integrated with our vision of developing compassionate, responsible leaders for God and man, capable of contributing to and positively shaping the world around them.
