HCHS has adopted the Rondalla and Pangkat Kawayan instruments as part of the its music program beginning school year 2017-2018. Our very own alumna and Vice President of HCHS Alumni Association Inc., Mrs. Catherine Sales Dy and her batchmates from Eurhythmic 1984 sponsored the musical instruments for this program.
On the occasion of the school’s 71 st Founding Anniversary, HCHS students welcomed the guests by playing a medley of Filipino music using different bamboo instruments.
Rondalla is an ensamble of stringed instruments originated in Spain that has been part of the traditional Filipino music. Pangkat Kawayan on the other hand, is a product of Filipino ingenuity in developing musical instruments out of bamboo. Together, these two musical groups have enriched the variety of the music program offered in Hope Christian High School. On top of our regular music program, handbell, and theater arts classes, students are learning the rudiments music and its appreciation using Filipino traditional instruments.
